Eddie Ankin Book 6 Title Reveal...THE SHIELD

Here’s the thing about justice—nobody tells you the price.

They show you the cop who gets the bad guy. The lawyer who wins the case. The hero moment. But they never show you what it costs the person doing it.

That’s what Eddie Ankin is about to discover.

Five Books, One Question

Since Book 1—The Double—Eddie’s been running. From his past. From a detective who knows too much. From the weight of choices he can’t take back.

But in THE SHIELD, he can’t run anymore.

He has to choose: Does he protect the person he loves or do the right thing? Because sometimes you can’t do both.

And spoiler alert—there’s no good answer.

A Nod to History

Now, here’s where the homage comes in.

The Shield—the FX show created by Shawn Ryan that gave us Michael Chiklis as “a different kind of cop” and a look at the absolute cost of justice—that show asked the same question. It showed us cops willing to bend rules, break laws, sacrifice their humanity in service of justice. It was brutal and honest about the cost.

Justice isn’t clean. The people who pursue it aren’t heroes. They’re human beings making impossible choices, cutting corners they probably shouldn’t, all in service of something bigger than themselves. And sometimes, they lose themselves in the process.

That’s what The Shield was about. The moral weight of doing the right thing.

For the first time in the Eddie Ankin series, Book 6—The Shield—asks Eddie the exact same question.
