In the beginning, all I had was an image.
I saw a family coming home from trick-or-treating in an idyllic suburban town—the kind of place that felt like autumn in Colorado. Then I saw the mother. She was dressed as a witch, standing in her kitchen, injecting something into her husband’s and her kids’ candy before serving it to them. Then the image shifted: I saw that same witch drowning her husband in a bathtub.
I didn’t know who they were. I just knew I had to figure out how they got there. Naturally, I thought I was writing a domestic thriller like Gone Girl. So, when the book was done I marketed it that way.
I was wrong.
As readers dug in, they realized the story wasn’t about a bad marriage. It was about government conspiracies, sensory deprivation tanks, and weaponized memory.
I hadn’t written a domestic thriller. I’d written a Techno-Thriller in the vein of Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter or Stephen King’s The Institute with a dash of The Dead Zone thrown in.
So, I’m fixing the packaging. I pulled the old version from Amazon. I gave it a new title, a new cover, and a new pen name..,. The Clover Experiment by J.T. Elice.
I need your help to launch it.

Amazon’s algorithm rewards books with early momentum. If you can leave a short, honest review in the first 48 hours, you’ll help this book find the readers who’ve been waiting for it. If that’s too much, I’d sincerely appreciate a star rating (5 is great, 4 is good, anything 3 or below is a stinker)
If you’re up for this, please reply to this email with “I’M IN.”
I’ll send you the digital copy right now for free.
Or, click this link: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/5xskmm8xz5
You get to read the book before anyone else. I get to rock the Amazon algorithm, and more people discover a book they love.
Thanks for being part of the experiment.
Best,
J.T. Elice
